"God sets the lonely in families." Ps. 68:6
The newly-formed Adoption Ministry is an effort to promote the value of adoption to those within our church and community, and offer emotional, spiritual, and financial support to members of Crossroads who are actively pursuing adoption. As a church, we are committed to the life-affirming and oftentimes rescuing effects adoption has in our present day and age as God-glorifying, and are driven by our belief that adoption reflects the heart of God in redemption toward His people, the Church (Eph. 1:5). As a ministry, we are committed to helping, through organization of fund-raising, any session-approved member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in the process of adoption. We also aim to promote adoption both within the church and community as a viable option. We are currently in the fund-raising process for our first session-approved family adopting from China .
The Adoption Ministry puts the “pro-life” stance into real, tangible action by offering opportunities to financially support those seeking to adopt – a sometimes unbelievably costly endeavor. Consider this: a couple adopting from overseas can end up paying over $20,000 easily when it's all said and done. Hence, our hope is that this ministry will serve to create a “climate of possibility” in our church, so that couples who may have considered adopting, but were deterred for financial reasons would know that they are not alone, and that the community of God's people is here to serve them in very practical ways – making adoption possible! Furthermore, we believe that the community surrounding us desires to see more than “talk;” they desire to see Christian love in action – and what better way to demonstrate the love of God?
The vision of this ministry is ambitious, but we believe that as we "attempt great things for God we can expect great things from God." We are passionate about fulfilling the important task of caring for those who are most vulnerable in society, namely orphans, or “practical orphans” (Jas. 1:27; Isa. 1:17). The need is so great, and the calling is so high, and we as a church will not ignore God's heartbeat for the orphan. To learn more, email Pastor Josh Guzman [email].
*Note: Recipe Submission has ended. Thank you for all of the recipes that we received! We apologize in advance if a recipe you submitted is not included in the final cookbook. Duplicates and similar items are sifted through and we are unable to include all of the submissions. However, most of the submissions have given us the means necessary to make a great cookbook and we are excited to see its arrival and sale to raise funds for the Adoption Ministry.
