Orphan Care Ministry

James 1:27 says, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." The Orphan Care Minsitry exists to provide support for our adoptive and foster families and to provide loving, practical support to orphans in need around the world.

The Spiritual Importance of Adoption

Psalm 68:6 says, "God sets the lonely in families." There is nothing more natural for the family of God than welcoming children children into our families by adoption. Adoption is one the most prominent word pictures used throughout the Bible to describe the believers position in God's family through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:5)

The Adoption Assistance Fund

In 2007 the Crossroad's Adoption Assistance Fund was started to make adoption an affordable adoption for families feeling led to adopt. Since its inception many families have recieved support through the Adoption Assistance Fund. This fund is support entirely by the gracious gifts and year around fund raising efforts of our church family.

Adoptive/Foster Family Support

The Orphan Care Minsitry also aims to provide steady support for our ever growing community of adoptive and foster families. That support comes through mentoring relationships, practical help for families returing with adopted children or foster children, and  adoption/foster care support seminars and programs.

Orphanage Partnerships

The Orphan Care Ministry also seeks to provide loving and practical support for orphans in our own community and throughout the world. In the summer of 2007 CPC partnered with an orphanage in Tulchyn, Ukraine which is home to approximately 50 children between the ages of 0-5, many who have special needs. Since that time we have sent many of our own to care for the orphan through renovation projects, medical training, and children's ministry. Through a partnership with Bethany Social Services in Ukraine we are able to provide on-going help to these children throughout the year. (www.bethany-ukraine.org/en/)

The Mid-Atlantic Orphan Care Coalition

In the fall of 2008 Crossroads was instrumental in the forming the Mid-Atlanltic Orphan Care Coalition (MAOCC). The MAOCC is the cooperative work of several evangelical churches throughout our region to  advocate for children who are waiting for "forever families" in Delaware's Foster Care system and to spread a passion for orphan care ministry in the church. Visit the MAOCC website for more information www.orphancarecoalition.com

Not everyone is called by God to adopt a child, but everyone is to called to care for the orphan. The Orphan Care Ministry seeks to make caring for the orphan accessible for people of all ages out of obedience to God's command.
