The session of Crossroads Presbyterian Church consists of Teaching and Ruling elders who are men that have been nominated, found to meet the qualifications for elder as outlined in Titus1 and 1 Timothy 3, and elected by the congregation.
The session is responsible to shepherd the spiritual needs of church members through: instruction, prayer, visitation, encouragement in the word and discipline. They are to set an example to the members of the church in their zeal to evangelize and make disciples as well as they are bound to discharge all the duties of Christians by the law of love. The session also has the duty and authority of governing the church in general by setting its vision, oversight of the ministries and approval of budget and spending.
Teaching elders are men who have been called, trained and examined for full time ministry through the preaching and teaching of the Word. This office of eldership has equal authority with and the same responsibilities as the ruling elder. In addition to that, the teaching elder has the duties of feeding the flock by reading, expounding and preaching the word of God and the administration of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
