In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
It is clear from Jesus' teaching that the local church has a central role in bringing the gospel to the world. Crossroads is deeply commited to church planting as a strategy for reaching the many small communities that comprise our region for Christ and His Kingdom.
Church Planting in Connecticut
In 2005 Crossroads was honored to be the sending church for pastor Dave Hutchinson. Dave and his wife, Paula, moved to New Milford, Connecticut, with their four children, Sarah, Abigail, David Jr., and Lily in August of 2005 to plant Christ the Shepherd Presbyterian Church. Today Christ the Shepherd Presbyterian Church is a young burgeoning mission church just minutes from downtown Danbury.
The vision of Christ the Shepherd is to experience and extend the power of God's truth and grace throughout the greater Danbury region. As a church they seek to provide a kind of community where it is "safe" to be deelpy flawed and broken wherein people can discover the life-transforming love of God revealed in the gospel. Crossroads is pleased to be partnered with Christ the Shepherd during this transition to becoming a particular, self-sustaining church. Visit Christ the Shepherd in Danbury at www.danburyshepherd.org for more information on the work.
Looking Ahead to Smyrna
The leadership of Crossroads envisions planting a daughter church in the neighboring community of Smyrna to our south. At present, believers gather in a home setting on two Sunday evenings a month for Christian fellowship.
